What does the US government think about International Education?
- By International Education, we mean international students in the United States, U.S. students studying abroad, faculty efforts, university partnerships, virtual exchanges, or other forms of engagement.
For the past decades, America has been the top host nation for international students. The country now has more than 5000 universities and colleges; it attracts thousands of students from all over the world year-round.
Succession and progression are among the country’s main goals.
And in today’s world, these two cannot be attained unless the whole world comes together. COVID-19 vaccine is a great example; we would not be successful if scientists from all over the world had not worked together. The US government understands the importance of the issue, therefore, it tries to expand its international relations. One of the country’s top policies is to provide better services for international students. The government has always emphasized international education and believed that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders.
U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education have recently expressed their concern by a joint statement. They believe that the collaboration of researchers, educators, students, scientists, and scholars from all over the world can improve global businesses, scientific discoveries and innovations, economy, culture, arts, linguistics and broaden their perspectives.
The US assumes that international education benefits both international students and the government. U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education have introduced reasons why international education is important:
It benefits:
-
National security
-
Economy
-
American Students and Communities
-
U.S. businesses
Therefore, International education is one of the government’s most important policies.
