(Being scared of what others might say is not the solution.)
Welcome to this week’s #want_know_can; today we’re going to talk about one of the biggest obstacles on the success path, BEING SCARED OF WHAT OTHERS MIGHT SAY, OR THINK.
Tina Seelig, American educator, entrepreneur, and the author of “What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20”, believes that being scared of what others might say is what keeps us away from success, from happiness, and from doing things that might otherwise seem impossible.
Isn’t she right? How many times have this feeling chained you up before? How many times have you backed off just because you didn’t know what others might say about you?
Let me tell you that these people that you’re so much concerned about will ALWAYS talk about you, no matter what you do. This is just what they do, what they’re good at.
So when you’re climbing the ladder of success, they’re telling you
to stop,
to give up,
not to dream big;
they’re down there, telling you
that it’s impossible,
that you’re going to fall,
that you’re going to harm yourself.
But what made all the Steve Jobs, the Mark Zuckerbergs and the Bill Gates out there different from others is the fact that what-others-might-say could never stop them. People will ALWAYS judge you; it doesn’t really matter if you’re doing something or you’re not. Therefore, don’t let this feeling stops you.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not asking you to stop listening to others; NO,
first listen to their experiences, to their suggestions;
then think about what they’ve said;
and after that try to make the right decision based on what you’ve heard, what you know, and what you want. No one knows, maybe their experiences can save you from an awful failure.
In the end, make sure to choose the best way for yourself and not for others.
Now let me say that:
We all know we can do it,
Because we all want to do it so bad
