You have obtained your university admission and you now are ready to attend your F-1 visa interview at the U.S. consulate. It can be stressful!

Here are some tips to help you

Application Submission on Time

Be Sure to submit the correct form. For F-1 visa, you are required to submit an online visa application known as DS-160. Make sure to pick the correct U.S. consulate location before you start filling out your form.

Practice Your English Skills As Soon As Possible

Communication is the most important step. It will help you in communicating with officer in the U.S. consulate. Practice your goals, your intentions and how you communicate in English.

Documents for the Interview

There are some documents that are required, and some are good to have. In addition, there are supporting documents that you can present at your F-1 visa interview in order to support your visa request at the U.S. consulate. Have all your documents organized, placed them in a clean folder and know exactly where everything is in your document folder.

Practice for the Interview

Practice in front of the mirror before going for the interview. It will increase your confidence level. Think before answering every question. Answer to the questions and don’t over explain everything. ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH.

Show your ties to your home country

The U.S. consulate officer most likely will ask about the ties with your home country. Talk about your connections to your home country, your over goals.

Stay positive and optimistic. Be sure to smile during your interview and believe in yourself.  Stay confident and you will successfully complete the interview.
