Introduction

The United States L-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa type that allows companies outside of the United States to transfer their managers, executives and employees under two different types of L-1 visa category.

L-1A visa is for the transfer of executives and managers.

L-1B visa is for specialized knowledge employees.

To qualify the for LA-1, you must have worked outside of the U.S for one year out of the last three years in a managerial or executive role. And your company outside of the U.S is establishing a branch or subsidiary in the U.S and is transferring you in the managerial or executive role. You are initially approved for a 3-year visa and extended for another two 2 years term, totaling 7 years.

L-1A “New Office”

The L-1A “New Office” is great for business owners and startups who want to expand their business in the united states.
The New Office L-1A allows a manager or executive to open a new subsidiary, branch or office in the Unites States and begin working for that entity for 1 year initially, plus three 2-year extensions, totaling 7 years.

L-1B visa is for specialized knowledge employees.

L-1B visas are for people with a specialized knowledge capacity. covers those with knowledge of the company's products/services, research, systems, proprietary techniques, management, or procedures.

Spouses and Children

Spouses of L-1 visa holders can apply for L-2 visa and can obtain a work authorization in the U.S to be employed
