USCIS: New Policy, a Replacement for Original Signature

It was after the Corona pandemic that USCIS decided to accept copies of the original signature on all its forms and documents, but the agency announced that this policy is only a temporary thing and might be changed at any time. Later, in July 2022, in a new announcement the agency declared that it will continue to accept these copies permanently and under the following conditions.

The applicant can submit a scanned, photocopied, faxed (or similarly reproduced) copy of his documents to USCIS only of:

  • The copy is of the original document
  • The original handwritten signature is on the original document

*      The applicant must keep the original document (which contains the original wet signature), in case USCIS asks him to send it.
