5 F-1 Visa Interview Tips

So, the big day is coming up and we know that you are nervous! It’s understandable and of course, anyone would be nervous as you have worked hard towards preparing for your student visa (F-1 Visa). Not to mention, all the steps you just completed to get your I-20 and university admission package.

Here are 5 tips for you:

  1. Look like a student

You can dress up and dress down, but remember you are applying to get a STUDENT visa, so dress professionally in a clean manner. You don’t need to dress up in a way that you are attending a gala.

  1. Know your numbers

Knowing how much money your tuition, the cost of your housing and the cost of living, in general, will show the consulate officer you have done your research and you made a decision based knowing the facts. Be prepared to answer questions about the costs.

  1. Place to settle down for time being

If you have not secured your housing, have a plan! You need to show that you know where you are going to live until you find housing and a place to stay. If you are going to live on campus at or student housing, document your arrangements and have them ready for your F-1 visa interview

  1. Location

Make sure you are familiar with where your interview is at. Go to the address provided on your appointment letter a day before. This will help you decrease your stress level on the day. Trust us!

  1. Relax

We know its easier said than done. But try to relax, think about the questions that the officer asks you and answer them slowly and carefully. If you don’t understand a question, ask the officer to repeat the question. Remember, if you believe in yourself and your goals, you have nothing to be stressed about.
